How does she respond when something unexpected happens?

Can she understand your instructions and clearly tell you when something is wrong?

How does she respond to tantrums, refusal to eat or difficult routines?
Questions We Would Ask During the Interview
Tell me about the youngest child you've cared for.
Listen for specific details rather than a generic “yes, I have childcare experience”.
What did you do for the child every day?
Ask about feeding, bathing, school routines, play, sleeping arrangements and supervision.
What would you do if a toddler refused to eat?
Look for patience and willingness to follow the parents' approach.
What would you do if the child fell and hit their head?
Look for basic safety judgement and willingness to inform the employer promptly.
When would you contact the employer immediately?
This helps you understand the candidate's judgement and communication style.
Look for specific examples tell you more than “Yes ma'am, I can do.”
